Volunteer Opportunities

Below are brief details about some of the volunteering opportunities currently available at MCNH. If you can think of other ways to support our residents, please let us know. Full training will be given for all roles.

If you are interested in any of these roles, please get in touch with us by calling the volunteering team at 870-867-2156 ext. 239, ask for Patricia Ledbetter.

Outing Volunteers

Our community aims to provide regular trips out for residents. Could you volunteer as a helper on these outings? Your day would include traveling with the resident and acting as a companion for the day. You will be able to make the day more enjoyable for residents by lending a hand during a short walk, or pushing their wheelchair. On all outings, you will be accompanied by a member of the care team.

Volunteers needed at MCNH – ranging from a few hours to a full day.

Walking Volunteers

To accompany a resident who wishes to walk, or be pushed in a wheelchair, around the gardens of the home, or the local community if appropriate.

Training in the safe use of wheelchair will be given.

Piano Player

Our residents love to hear piano being played and enjoy a wide range of music. They enjoy a sing-song as well as just listening.

Activities Assistant

Do you have a skill or hobby that you could share with our residents? Perhaps you enjoy arts and crafts, cards or games and could assist residents participating in these fun activities.

Many of our residents enjoy spending time chatting with others, talking about the things that are important to them. Could you offer companionship and friendship to some of our residents by being a weekly visitor for them to look forward to seeing?

Can you sing or play a musical instrucment? Could you provide entertainment for our residents? Perhaps our residents could sing along with you or just sit back and relax and enjoy the entertainment.

Creative/Crafts Assistant

Can you spare a few hours to help encourage residents to express themselves creatively? They may use skills they already have or you could help encourage new ones with the idea that it should be fun for everyone. You may be required to source materials for the group but all expenses will be covered.

Club Leaders and Helpers

If you enjoy organizing, being host or hostess and are caring you could be just the person to run a club or activity. If you do not like to take the lead but enjoy being useful then being a Club helper may be just the role for you. Leaders and helpers work as a team, preparing the venue, ensuring members are comfortable, organizing games/activities and making the all important cup of tea!
